EGGS

Where Eggs come from, how long they take, and what decides whether one hatches shiny.

The three kinds

Every Egg goes to the incubator and hatches on a timer. What comes out depends on which kind it was.

EggHatches inWhat comes out
Common6 hoursAny hatchable species, and shiny 1 time in 150.
Drift9 hoursAny hatchable species, and shiny 1 time in 40. Better odds of a rare, and can hatch an epic.
Shiny12 hoursAlways hatches shiny. Won on the weekly Spire podium, or by finishing 1st on a Daily Challenge board.

The Drift Egg

The rare one. A Drift Egg hatches the same species pool as a common Egg, so it is not a shortcut to a Pokemon you could not otherwise get. What it changes is the tier that Pokemon arrives at, and how likely it is to shine.

It also hatches shiny 1 time in 40, against 1 in 150 for a common Egg, and it takes 9 hours instead of 6 hours. The longer wait is the price of the better odds.

How to get one

Seven ways, and only one of them asks you to be in the Daycare at all.

SourceOddsThe rule
Your first Gym BadgeGuaranteed, once per accountThe first Badge your account ever wins comes with an Egg. It is not one of the run's three, it is the account's one.
Winning a fight on a run9% a winGym Leaders, Elite Four members, Cruise Ship trainers and the Rival each roll once. Route trainers never do. A Daycare companion along for the run adds 1% to every roll. At most 3 Eggs a run.
SamsaraEvery floor clearedThe odds climb with the floor, and each boss floor sits a step above its neighbours. At most 2 Eggs a climb, counted when the climb ends.
A Drift Egg1% a fight or a floorThe only Egg a route trainer can pay. Every won battle on a run rolls for one, and so does every Samsara floor. It is paid on top of the caps above: a run that already found its 3, or a climb that found its 2, can still find this. One a run and one a climb, however long either one goes on.
Expeditions25% to certainThe longer you give a team up for, the likelier they bring one home. A Forager in the yard adds 15% to that chance.
The weekly Spire podiumTop 3 of each towerA Shiny Egg, guaranteed. First place takes a common Egg on top of it.
The Daily ChallengeChampion, once a dayA Drift Egg for taking the title. Finishing 1st on the day's board, once the day closes, pays a Shiny Egg and 250 Kibble.

Samsara, floor by floor

Every floor you clear rolls once. It flattens at the top so an endless climb cannot keep improving its own odds. The Drift Egg rolls on the same floors at a flat 1%, and neither roll spends the other.

Expeditions, trip by trip

The Egg chance is the whole payout of an expedition. No XP and no Kibble come out of one, so the only thing you are choosing is how long to give the team up for.

The incubator

It holds 6 Eggs. The Egg Basket raises that to 9 for 1,000 Kibble, and a second one takes it to 15 for 3,000 more. A full incubator turns away a drop from a fight, so it is worth keeping a slot open on a run.

Upgrading the incubator shortens every timer, up to 25% faster at level 10. A Nest Egg in the yard takes another 20% off on top.

Shinies

A common Egg hatches shiny 1 time in 150, and a Drift Egg 1 time in 40. The podium Egg always does, which is the whole prize: the species is luck, the shine is earned.
