ABILITIES

What a Pokemon brings to a fight before the first move is picked.

Abilities

50 abilities are implemented, each one held by a fixed list of species. A Pokemon not on any list has no ability.

Most Pokemon carry one or two, shown on the Pokedex card, and they fire during battle with a line in the log saying so. Which abilities a species can have comes from the real games, and so does what each one does.

The pairing is where this game differs. In the mainline games a Pokemon has exactly one ability at a time, chosen from the two or three its species can have. Here it can carry two. Both halves are still drawn from that species real set, never invented, and two abilities that would multiply damage together are never paired, so no Pokemon ends up hitting for a number no game has ever paid.

Abilities that need weather, entry hazards or held items are deliberately absent, because none of those exist here. An ability that could never fire would just be a line on a card.
